I’m a bookworm. As such, I know that avid readers (like myself) believe that knowledge is power. So in the spirit of empowerment, here are my top 4 book recommendations for an empowered marketing mindset.
My Top 4:
1.) “Go For No” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz
This book uses a fictional character and story plot to walk you through the process of viewing each “no” as being one step closer to the “yes”. “Go for No” explores how people have this idea that they need to avoid pitfalls and failures to achieve success. However, the author suggests that these failures and perceived setbacks are actually the way to success and therefore, you should seek out as many “no’s” as you can!
2.) “Ogilvy on Advertising” by David Ogilvy
Coined as “The most sought after wizard in the business”, Mr. Ogilvy has crafted an excellent book on how to start an advertising agency and work with creative teams. This book is an inspired look at the advertising business and includes many types of ad campaigns to study and think about.
3.) “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller
Less distraction and more productivity is the theme here. This day in age, one of the most important skills we can have is the ability to focus. This book discusses paring down to the one thing that’s most important; not trying to be everything to everyone, and then being able to produce excellence as a result.
4.) “Moving Your Invisible Boundaries” by Dr. Jim Richards
Although this is a Christian book, I think that all of the concepts in it apply strongly to anyone, no matter what your religious background is. This book will take you on a discovery of identifying wrong belief systems that you have, and then gives you tools to transform and replace those wrong beliefs with the truth so that you can be empowered to step out boldly and confidently.
